Wil
Bowers has enjoyed leading roles in numerous Write Act Repertory
productions including Stewart Zuckerbrod's (Loosely) Lysistrata,
Kafka's The Trial, Shakespeare's Cymbeline, and Joan
Silsby's The Devil's Bride, and is the proud recipient of the
NAACP Theatre Award as Best Actor for his role in Celebration Theatre's
Insurrection: Holding History, playing both a 189-year-old former
slave and that character’s younger self. Other favorite roles include
Garnet, the James Brown/Jackie Wilson impersonator in Blade to the
Heat at Stage 52 and the Coast Playhouse; a military guardsman in
the Valley Theatre League Award winning Niggas with Attitudes and Big
Guns at the Whitmore/Lindley Theatre; Sonya, a drug-using,
transvestite prostitute in La Petite Musicale’s version of Godspell;
and dozens of characters in A Single Woman, Riprap Studio
Theatre's two-person show about America's first female Congressperson.
On TV, Wil’s appearances include Saints & Sinners, Will & Grace, The
Young & The Restless, The Wayans Bros., The Bold & The Beautiful,
and General Hospital. Film roles include an SEC agent in the
upcoming feature Expecting Love, with Robert Forster and Joshua
Leonard; a fighter pilot in Surface to Air, with Michael Madsen;
a Diana Ross impersonator in the indie, Doves; the KidSmartz
abduction prevention video with Bryan Cranston, and numerous commercials
and short films including festival hit Love Is Love, with Jane
Lynch; Rumors, with Hill Harper; and the lead in Jermaine
Love's Interruption. An Illinois native and Boston transplant, Wil
is a member of SAG, AFTRA and AEA. |
