Synopsis
Phillip Peterson is a young and handsome music
composer who hasn't yet found his success and is resentful of his dependence
on his upper-crust parents. At a society party, he meets erotic
photographer Caroline Thames, who, in exchange for sexual favors, offers to
introduce him to her "best friend," Juliana Broom, the world-renowned
mistress of famous composer B.Z. Keller. Since B.Z.'s death, Juliana has
been living in seclusion with her shy, stammering brother, Ned, in their
run-down West Side apartment in New York. Caroline manages to get Juliana
to hire Phillip under the pretence of gardener, and he insinuates himself
into their lives and, soon, into both of their beds. Phillip attempts to
locate B.Z.'s last symphony, which has never been found, so that he might
claim the work for himself. Phillip, however, is murdered, and all three --
Caroline, Juliana and Ned -- each confess to murdering him. They recount
their motives, which contradict each other, knowing that this high-profile
murder will bring the murderer the fame they all crave. In the end,
Caroline, Juliana and Ned get what they desire but at tremendous personal
cost. |
